The Mistral at the Sofitel on Ponte 16 serves Chinese and Western breakfast buffet. By the pool. Each table gets its own snobbish coffee plunger. And Peugeot salt and pepper shakers. And champagne. I am not kidding.
I am not usually a breakfast person. My esophagus is still tightly clamped in the morning. I'll only have something if it's easy to swallow. Breakfast is so underrated, honestly. It's only when a place like the Mistral visibly goes the extra mile that you realize what you've been missing out on. Details.
The dimsum was just perfect, the cooked-to-order eggs were divine, the fruit counter was simply sumptuous - and yes - the champagne was gloriously bubbly.
Only problem is, once you've had champagne, the last thing on your mind is sightseeing.
But maybe that's the idea, all along.
Why bother stepping out when life's best pleasures are best enjoyed here, now, at your fingertips?
With Affection,
James
