As though the sing-song greeting of "Bonsoir!" weren't enough, Rendezvous at the Sofitel is festooned with art deco paintings, crystal curtains, and luxurious banquettes. The bar menu features a sexy selection of infused Absolut vodka that includes raspberry, chilli, cucumber, etc. Vodka comes out of a tap from clear giant glass jugs, natch. So gay.
So this was where Chris and I had a nightcap after watching what was possibly the most spectacular show I have ever seen. We ate snobbish bar chow (marinated olives, mixed nuts and... jelly beans!!!) on heavy silver bowls. I mean, trust a grand hotel to bling it out, really!
Lighting was so perfectly sexy, it made you feel like you just had to make babies on the spot; service was cheerful; the infused vodka cocktails were reasonably priced at well under MOP100 each; and we were away - far, far away - from the heavy cigarette smoke and the annoying ka-ching! of less civilized casinos.
